The Robert and Avis McDaniel Scholarship will be awarded annually at the spring initiation meeting to a deserving, outstanding doctoral student enrolled at the master's or doctoral level in the College of Education at Southern Illinois University who is recognized for excellent academic credentials and demonstrated leadership ability in education. The account was established with PDK in 1991 with a challenge grant from Dr. and Mrs. McDaniel and matched by the members of the Southern Illinois University Chapter in Carbondale, Illinois.
All nominees must be members in good standing of the local SIUC chapter #0083 The scholarship recipient must be present at the meeting to accept this award.
Applications must submit this completed form, an updated resume, proof of academic status and an essay by 4:00 p.m. on the due date listed below. The essay should be limited to 500 words or less and should address the question: ÒHow can educators use the service, leadership, and research ideals of Phi Delta Kappa to assist schools in improving the quality of education for their students?
